Gregory Haile, J.D., has spent his entire career preparing for his appointment as CEO of Upwardly Global. His lived experience makes his connection to the mission of helping professionally qualified immigrants rebuild careers and reclaim economic mobility personal. Greg is transforming Upwardly Global into the leading national model for aligning domestic workforce shortages with global talent, building stronger employer partnerships, deeper industry pipelines, and a data-driven understanding of where American competitiveness demands the most urgent investment. He is committed to reframing immigration not as a political issue, but as an economic necessity, championing the truth that immigrants are among the healthcare workers, engineers, and entrepreneurs who fuel shared prosperity for the entire nation. Above all, Greg's vision is to position Upwardly Global as both a premier service organization and a bold thought leader, one that shapes the national conversation on workforce inclusion, economic mobility, and the long-term economic strength of the United States.

Greg’s expertise lives at the intersection of economic mobility, our nation’s workforce needs, generative AI, and our nation’s economy. He is a Senior Fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School and Senior Advisor to the Harvard Project on Workforce. He also serves as the Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. When appointed, he was the first educator to chair the Atlanta Fed in 70 years. He formerly served as the Bank’s Audit and Operational Risk Committee Chair. In addition, he e served on the U.S.- EU Talent for Growth Task Force, co-chaired by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and the U.S. Secretary of State, which brought together six American leaders from business, labor, and education to collaborate with counterparts from the European Union to exchange best practices, catalyzing the advancement of human capital.

With almost 30 years of board and board chair experience, Greg currently sits on the boards of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Everglades Foundation, and Poetry in America. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and YPO. He is also a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a member of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc (Alpha Rho Boule).

While President of Broward College, he was recognized as one of the top five community college CEOs in the nation by the American Association of Community Colleges, and he led the college to a top ten ranking by the Aspen Institute every year under his tenure. His leadership garnered the largest grant and the largest gift in the College's history.

A recipient of more than 50 awards, including being named one of the “Seven Most Fascinating People of South Florida,” the U.S. flag has twice been raised above Florida’s State Capitol building in honor of Greg and his work.

He holds a Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University, where he graduated magna cum laude and was recognized as the most outstanding graduate in his college. Haile received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Nova Southeastern University and is a Fellow of the Vanderbilt University Higher Education Management Institute.
